'R Us
Once for my younger sister's birthday she had a Tropical
theme. I took 2 pieces of plywood and drew a character
on each
of them (a mermaid for the girl guests and a surfer
for the boys). After I finished painting them the faces
were cut out and at the party polaroids were taken of
the kids in the cutouts. Then while they were swimming
I took the pictures and put them into frames I had made
beforehand out of Popsicle sticks. Then they got to
take them home with them. The kids and their parents
loved them! Ashley in Albany, Oregon USA

here we come!
It would be really cool to have a Bahamas themed birthday
party. My birthday is in the winter and i don't live
around any beaches. What you could do is put up tropical
colored streamers and other tropical decorations, serve
punch with those little umbrellas(the works!) If you
have a basement you could set up beach chairs and umbrellas,
towels, and radios (playing tropical music of coarse!!!!)
You could turn up the heat and have people come with
their bathing suits on and you could all act like you
were at the bahamas. Kathy in Thurmont, Maryland
I had a my 13th party as a
luau!
There is website where you type in your name and it
translates it into Hawaiian. I did that for all of my
guest name and wrote it on thongs(shoes:) and put strings
around the thongs and my guests wore them as necklaces...the
whole night we called each other by our Hawaiian names...it
was pretty cool! Website for Hawaiian names: http://www.hisurf.com/hawaiian/names.html

We had my father's 70th birthday
in California.
It was a tropical theme complete with a live band, dancers...
the whole kabang! We went to a Party City Store and
bought 70 tropical leis plus extra flowers for the tables
decorations. The leis were a hit-- every guest received
one-- they were thrilled that they had a memento of
the fabulous time had by all. Margaret, Honolulu, Hawaii

I am planning a 30th Birthday, Hawaiian
Luau. I was able to hire a local hula dancer for under
$200 dollars. I bought many of the decorations at Party
City, and even some items on line. I'm cooking most
of the food myself and surfed the web for Hawaiian recipes.
I went to a site called Diana's International Recipes.
I also printed some Hawaiian phrases from the web and
printed them on color paper to hang around. I went to
Borders and bought 2 Hawaiian cds, one was Don Ho and
the other was steel drums. Rae V. Salt Lake City, Utah
